You’re successful in business but your health sucks

We can all become very successful when we attack a certain area of our life with a single minded approach. However this usually ends up causing us to excel in one area of life while lacking in all others.

As a personal trainer I see that often business is one of the main areas that we excel in, mainly due to the fact that we live in a money driven world and this dictates our priorities.

We work so hard on our businesses that we end up not spending enough time on the things in life that really matter and will really allow us to experience true happiness, Such as our personal relationships, our health, having fun, seeing our families, getting enough quality rest and going on holidays.

Without good health, feeling loved, quality relationships, regular fun and sufficient rest eventually stress kicks in and life just goes tits up. We can get moody, depressed, feel sad and don’t know why. This is because our current life does not match the life we really want.

Sometimes we just need to take a step back and say “yes that area of my life is going pretty damn well now, but is there other areas of my life that are not going as well as I would like them too?”

Once you see which areas are not going so well, all you need to do is put your focus on one of those other areas and be single minded with that for a little while. If you are successful in one area of life, all you have to do is address the next area in the same way that you became successful in what you already do.

You may need to delegate some of your work load to an employee, or sub-contractor but as long as they cost less than your time costs you’re winning. With this additional time you can go out with your partner, visit your family, go and play a social sport, go and work on your health by going to the gym or learning to cook, you get the idea.

So look at your life and see what is limiting your true happiness, and address these areas in the same way that you have the areas that you are successful in already.

I realised a long while ago, that successful individuals in business have very little free time to devote to other areas of life, up all night doing emails causes them to not get the sleep they need, lacking in sleep causes leptin levels to drop and ghrelin levels to increase causing them to eat more sugary foods and toxins which lead to fat gain and ill health and as health gets worse the idea of turning it around seems to get harder and harder.
